Anniversary Of Opening Of The Hard Runway

Shoreham Airport commemorated the 20th anniversary of the opening of the hard runway on 18 September 2002.


Claudine Bloom flying a Beagle Pup on the anniversary. A Beagle Pup was one of the first aircraft to take off from the hard runway twenty years ago.

Graham Bishop (on the wing of the Beagle Pup) original surveyor to the airport who worked on plans for the hard runway. Also, owned the aircraft shown (G-AZDA) and was the first person to fly from the hard runway when it was opened. The person on the right of the picture is the present owner of the aircraft, Barry Deubelbeiss who kindly flew in for the event.


On the wing : Mr Crumplin, Kenneth Alwyn was the original owner

Socata Rallye G-KHRE originally flown by Kenneth Alwyn. Flown in for the event by new owner Mr Crumplin from Somerset.
