Shoreham Airport, The Real Flying Company and Advance Helicopters are joining forces to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a weekend of special activities, at Shoreham Airport’s historic Art Deco Terminal Building.
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June, visitors to Shoreham Airport will be able to enjoy 20 minute flights in a variety of aircraft types at special Jubilee prices.
The Real Flying Company has been operating historic tail-wheel aircraft from Shoreham for the last nine years. The Jubilee weekend will see their de-Havilland Chipmunk ex RAF Trainer and Stampe Bi-Plane (the Belgian equivalent of the iconic Tiger Moth) available for flights.
Making its first appearance since a £250K restoration, will be the latest addition to The Real Flying Company Fleet, de- Havilland Chipmunk G-BXGX. This aircraft has just completed a total ground-up restoration with the Aircraft Restoration Company, based at The Imperial War Museum, Duxford. Literally ‘the best Chipmunk in the world’, she will also be available for flights over the weekend.
Both manufactured in 1952 and having sequential serial numbers, the RFC’s two Chipmunks are also celebrating their Diamond Jubilees, this year.
James and Spencer of Advance Helicopters, two of Shoreham’s most experienced helicopter instructors, will also be running flights in the Robinson R22 and R44 Helicopters.
Shoreham Airport’s Restaurant will be open and offering a special ‘1950’s influenced’ menu for the weekend as well as special deals for individuals taking flights.
Celebrate the Jubilee weekend with a visit to Shoreham Airport. Whether to just to sit back with a drink and enjoy watching our historic aircraft fly or get up there and take the controls, the Diamond Jubilee Weekend at Shoreham offers something for everyone.

1st - 30th July 2012 - Art Exhibition. The exhibition by Tom Crawford is 24 new works being of an eclectic mix from modernism to creative to quirky. A percentage of all sales going to the Epilepsy Society.
7th July 2012 - Lift-Off A Go-Go!! - R & B, Northern Soul, Freakbeat, Ska and many a fine tune. 7pm to the midnight hour. £5 entrance fee at the door, all proceeds to the Epilepsy Society. Bar and food plus 24 hour free-phone taxi.
10th July 2012 - Big Band Night. Come and enjoy a night to remember at our Big Band Night. A 20-piece band will entertain and delight throught the evening playing a wide variety of music from Classical to Jazz. Free entry (hat passed round during the interval). Food isavailable until 19:30 and music starts at 20:00. Full bar service throughout the evening.
1st August - 30th September 2012 - Aviation Art Exhibition on upstairs gallery by James George and Steve Danks. Both paintings and photography will be on display and for sale.

12th - 29th October 2012 - Exhibition of work by the Pizazz Textile Group. Pizazz was started as a post City and Guilds group, to bring a few people together, to be able to bounce ideas and to learn from each other. Working alone cannot make up for the support and ideas one gets within a group. Their aims are to learn from and encourage each other to achieve a professional standard.
Twelve members meet once a month and discuss work in progress, new products, books, exhibitions. They either work on their own projects or hold workshops at which they learn new techniques from a Tutor. They intend to work towards an exhibition every two years, which they feel is a splendid way to concentrate the mind.Because they have extensive experience of textiles and various approaches to embroidery, they are able to produce work that covers an enormous spectrum of techniques, and also venture into the realm of paper craft, wirework and beads.
