Radiotelephony (R/T) Courses

John Hudson is an air traffic controller at RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire. He has been controlling now for over twenty years, and before that was a flying instructor / examiner and CFI.

With over 10,000 hours in his log books on piston, jet, Multi and even 100 hours as a gliding instructor, you can see John has ample experience to draw from to teach Radiotelephony.

He lives in Worthing and conducts R/T courses and one to one tuition, if required, for anyone who requires a Radiotelephony Licence. The courses are attended by a lot of people who are just interested in aviation as the content of the course, and as you can see below, covers a lot more than R/T.

With power point presentations and site visits, to name a few this month John has taken students to see Heathrow Control Tower, NATS AIS, West Drayton Air Traffic Control Centre, Previous visits where to Stanstead Air Traffic Control, Duxford, RAF Coningsby BBMF / Typhoon.

The course content is;
1. Airfield layout
2. Controlled Airspace/Zones etc
3. Maps and Charts
4. FIR and services available
5. CAP 413
6. Radiotelephony procedures for, The circuit, joining / leaving the circuit, Zone transits, MATZ penetration,SVFR, DF and Emergency procedures.
7. Practical training is conducted in groups, But one to one training can be arranged.

Coupled with the airfield visits this will very much widen your aviation knowledge.
